Joyce Dewitt | Born 1949
Joyce Dewitt was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, and spent her formative years in Speedway, Indiana. Later on, she finished her degree in theater at Ball State University and received her master’s at UCLA. She started acting as early as 13 years old, performing in theater plays, and her TV debut happened when she was working as a secretary at UCLA, in an episode of Baretta.
Dewitt is famously credited for her performances as Janet Wood in the sitcom Three’s a Company, which aired from 1977 until 1984. She also played the same role in an episode of The Ropers, which is a spinoff of the sitcom. After over seven years in the series, she took a break from acting and returned in the TV movie Spring Fling! as Lynda Hayden. Today, she remains active as an actress today at the age of 73 years old.
