Born as Angela Trimble on July 1, 1945, Debbie Harry is an American singer, actress, and songwriter. She is best known as the lead vocalist of the American rock band Blondie. The band has received a number of credits since it was formed in 1974. Their single Rapture from their fifth album was considered the first rap song to chart at number one in the United States.
During a Blondie hiatus, she embarked on her acting career. She had lead roles in Union City and Videodrome. She also started her solo career and released her first solo album, KooKoo, in 1981. She was able to release four solo albums before Blondie reunited in the late 1990s. The band released its eleventh album in 2017, which charted number four in the United Kingdom.
