David McCallum is an actor and musician who first gained recognition in the 1960s when he played the role of secret agent Illya Kuryakin in the TV series The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Born on September 19, 1933, he is one of the last living actors from the 1963 American war adventure film The Great Escape.
His early works include Robbery Under Arms, A Night to Remember, and Violent Playground. His first American film was Freud: The Secret Passion, which was then followed by Billy Budd. He also became part of The Greatest Story Ever Told, where he played the role of Judas Iscariot. In recent years, his name appeared in end credits again as he played the role of Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard in the television series NCIS.
