Celebrities Who Almost Bailed Out on Greatness

Watching movies in the present century has been tantamount to the most fundamental aspects of our lives such as sleeping, eating, or belonging to a certain community. There are movies that teach us certain principles in life while there are some that will be remembered as long as we live; some movies have inspired us while some have made us laugh ‘til we cried. However, it is worth mentioning that having a couple of people spew out lines and shooting in different can barely make a movie great. A degree of artistry has to be displayed by the actors and actresses to stimulate the emotions of the audience.

Here are a few of the actors and actresses who have set the bar too high.

1. Leonardo DiCaprio on The Revenant

Featuring one of the most sought out actors of the era, Leonardo Dicaprio portrays a 19th century nomad Hugh Glass in the 2016 movie The Revenant, which secured the actor his first Oscar Award. Based on a series of actual events, the movie follows Glass through extreme snow and conflicts with Native Americans and a near-death encounter with a bear. Despite his brilliant degree of acting, DiCaprio had considered this as his most challenging role. On the set, he had to eat an actual raw liver because the fake one was far from looking believable.

2. Michelle Rodriguez on The Fast and the Furious

Apart from being one of Maxim magazine’s Hot 100 Women of 2022, Michelle Rodriguez is among the boldest and toughest actresses in the entertainment industry. Upon reading the credit for a role in The Fast and the Furious, the actress immediately voiced her discontent and even attempted to back out. She claimed that the streets do not appear as the scriptwriters envisioned. “I’m not going to be a slut in front of millions of people,” Rodriguez added. The script was eventually turned to her favor and the movie went on to be a big hit.

3. Ian McKellen on The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Belonging to the exceptional actors that hail from Great Britain, Ian McKellen has been associated with playing roles of powerful men in the movies X-Men and The Lord of the Rings. For his credits as Gandalf in the latter film, the actor experienced a meltdown because he had to act alone against a green screen for countless hours. “It was distressing and off-putting and difficult,” he said in an interview. However, the crew cheered him up by starting “Gandalf Appreciation Day.”

4. John Cena on The Reunion

Before he parlayed his success to acting, John Cena is perhaps the World Wrestling Entertainment’s most successful star. He is most remembered for taking the championship belt from JBL. Cena then went on to win more championships and was dubbed by fans as the “Doctor of Thuganomics.” For a scene on The Reunion, the wrestler had to do a helicopter stunt. However, he showed a degree of hesitation because of his fear of heights. However, he took the challenge head on, just like how he dominated wrestlers of his era.

5. MIchelle Pfeiffer on Batman Returns

Michelle Pfeiffer is among the Hollywood actresses who doesn’t mind putting in the extra hours just to make ends meet. Often noted for her extraordinary looks, her skills as an actress have brought her much fame. She is most remembered for playing Cat Woman in Batman Returns, which involved wearing a skin-tight latex outfit that took hours to put on. The crew had to put a generous amount of baby powder to stop her outfit from sticking on her skin. However, that is not the hardest part. Pfeiffer had to ditch bathroom breaks because it was virtually impossible to take off her costume once she had worn it!
